Brooke Vincent has said she has been trying to shed a few pounds so she can fit into the leotards she will be wearing when she competes in Dancing On Ice next year.

The Coronation Street actress, who plays Sophie Webster, has been announced as the first celebrity contestant in the ITV series, which returns next year.

Announcing the news on This Morning, she said: “I love a challenge. Ice skating – what an amazing skill.

“Next year I can go with the girls and be like ‘I can do this, I can do that’ and they’ll be holding on to the sides.

“I’ve been trying to lose a few pounds to get in them leotards. I started my ice training on Saturday. If I get injured at least I’ll look sparkly on the way to the hospital!”

Last week choreographer Jason Gardiner confirmed he would be returning to the series as a judge, alongside Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, who were previously coaches on the show.

The name of the final judge to join the show has not yet been confirmed.

Previous hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby will return to front the show.

The full celebrity line-up will be revealed in due course, but over the last few weeks the official social media accounts for the show have teased snapshot pictures of the contestants.

They have shared a picture of a man’s bare torso, his hand holding cubes of ice, and a few other pictures including two unidentified people holding ice skates and somebody applying lipstick.

The last series was won by singer and actor Ray Quinn.
