Fans of The Great British Bake Off have reignited their support for former contestant Liam in the show’s first episode since his departure.

The teenage drama student was named the eighth baker to leave the Channel 4 show in the quarter-final last week.

As the remaining four hopefuls returned on Tuesday for the patisserie-themed semi-final, viewers took to Twitter to say that the show does not feel the same anymore without Liam’s laid-back attitude, creative flavours and cheeky quips at judge Paul Hollywood.

One viewer posted: “Watching Bake Off Semi final and it isn’t the same without Liam,” while another added: “Bake off just isn’t the same without Liam disappointed.”

One person joked: “The year is 2090 and I’m still mad about Liam being booted off bake off. #gbbo #itsnotthesame.”

One insisted adamantly: “Bake Off is nothing without Liam and no I won’t let it go #GBBO,” while many shared video clips and pictures of upset characters to show their continuing disappointment.

As the show started, semi-finalists Stacey, Steven, Kate and Sophie were tasked with presenting two types of choux buns.

Only three contestants will make it through to this season’s final on Channel 4 next week.
