Strictly Come Dancing has continued to dwarf The X Factor in the ratings.

The BBC1 ballroom dancing show attracted an average of 9.3 million and a peak audience of 10.2 million on Saturday night, holding on to its figures from last week.

With a 45% viewing share, it was also the most-watched show on TV on Saturday.

Despite some grumbles about the calibre of the celebrities this series, the episode also did better than the equivalent last year, which notched up 8.6 million and a peak of 9.5 million.

The X Factor, now in the Bootcamp stage, was seen by 4.9 million viewers, slightly up on last week, although its peak fell from six million to 5.8 million, according to overnight data.

The shows overlapped for 50 minutes until 8.50pm.

ITV’s X Factor had more 16 to 34-year-old viewers – the audience loved by advertisers – with 1. 1 million compared to Strictly’s 900,000.
