More than six million viewers tuned in to the new Great British Bake Off on Channel 4, but it appears Mary Berry was not one of them.

The former Bake Off judge, 82, was quoted as saying that she could not give her opinion on the ex-BBC show, because she was out.

“Actually, I was at a big dinner so I haven’t seen it,” Berry said, “but I will,” reported the Sunday Express.

Berry, like Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc, did not move with the BBC show, while Paul Hollywood, now joined by Prue Leith, Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding, did.

“If I’d been Paul and I was as young as he was I’d most likely have changed – I don’t know,” she said.

Berry said new judge Leith “did ring me and she said ‘they’ve given me such wonderful clothes, I’ve never been so well done'”.
