Love Island’s Mike: Me and Tyla more compatible than Chris and ‘fake’ Olivia

Love Island’s Mike Thalassitis has said that he believes he and Tyla Carr are a more compatible couple than Olivia Attwood and Chris Hughes, despite their exit from the show.

Thalassitis and Carr were dumped during Monday’s episode of the ITV2 dating programme after a public vote showed they were the least popular pair on the island.

Having previously been eliminated, Thalassitis recently returned for a brief stint in the show and quickly sparked up a romance with Carr, who was single after her relationship with former islander Jonny Mitchell fell apart.

Speaking after their departure, Thalassitis said: “I think Chris and Olivia’s relationship is a pretty rough one so if we can’t beat that then (me and Carr) are probably better off out.

“Obviously time was against us, but I think we’d be more compatible than some of the other couples in there.”

He said he thinks Hughes and Attwood – with whom he had a brief dalliance during his first time on the show, before she chose Hughes – are not as well-suited and that he does not like her.

“I think she’s probably more fake,” Thalassitis said. “I personally don’t like her, I’ve admitted that.”

Fans of the show saw as he promised “revenge” on Attwood upon his return for the way she had acted towards him earlier in the series.

During a break-up with Hughes last week, Attwood appeared to be open to rekindling her union with Thalassitis once again, but he made it clear to viewers that he did not want to be involved with her.

Carr said she thinks the public warmed to them the least as a couple because they had not had enough time to let their romance flourish, and that she was expecting to be dumped from the programme.

She said: “I wasn’t that surprised (to leave), obviously I hadn’t been in a couple with Mike for as long as most in there.

“I don’t think we got enough time to show us as a couple and things didn’t move as quickly as they have done with other couples.”

Carr and Thalassitis – who left the show with one week until the final – said they are not sure if they will continue their romance.

Thalassitis said: “I’ve known the girl for four or five days, we’re not in a relationship. We’ve been a couple in there, and we definitely enjoyed each other’s company, and I enjoyed sharing a bed.

“We had a laugh and I’m attracted to her, so we’ll see what happens.”

Carr said she is not planning to meet up with her ex-partner Mitchell following the dramatic end to their relationship.

“I don’t necessarily think we’ll make it a thing to make sure we meet up or anything,” she said.
