Little Steven, a founding member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, is to embark on his first major UK tour in more than two decades.

He will be joined by his band, The Disciples Of Soul, on a seven-date tour celebrating the release of his first album in 15 years.

Little Steven, real name Stevie Van Zandt, set up a new line-up of Disciples Of Soul for the 21st century and describes the group as “an ever-changing group of misfits, rogues and roustabouts”.

The band will start the tour at London’s Roundhouse on November 4 before visiting Bristol, Leeds, Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool and Newcastle.

On his latest album, Van Zandt said: “I’ve always been very thematic with my work, very conceptual.

“I need a big picture, I can’t just do a collection of songs, that doesn’t work for me. In this case, the concept became me. Who am I? I’m kind of my own genre at this point.

“So I tried to pick material that when you added it all up, really represented me. So there are a couple of covers, a couple of new songs, and some of what I feel are the best songs I’ve written and co-written over the years. This record is me doing me.”

:: Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday July 14.
