Double glazing comedy White Gold recommissioned by BBC

Vincent Swan and his team will head to Spain in the second series of White Gold.

Ed Westwick’s new television show White Gold is getting a second series.

The Essex-set comedy about double glazing salesmen has been recommissioned by BBC Two, with the next series due to air in 2018.

The hit programme sees former Gossip Girl star Westwick as Vincent Swan, a foul-mouthed, Thatcher-era double glazing salesman, with The Inbetweeners stars James Buckley and Joe Thomas as his sidekicks.

All three will be back when the series returns, with their bid for success taking them to Spain.

Shane Allen, controller of comedy commissioning for the BBC, said: “The reaction to the first series has been terrific, with an enormous audience boost from the iPlayer box set release.

“In series two, the swindles spread abroad to cover the Spanish timeshare apartment gold rush.

“Expect to see Ed Westwick in some tight swimming trunks.”

Damon Beesley, writer, director and co-founder of production company Fudge Park, said it was “an honour and a pleasure to be working with the BBC again on a second series of White Gold”.

“I like to think of it as selling them a series two conservatory to go with their series one patio doors!” he said.

White Gold was the channel’s biggest comedy launch of the year.

It was the second highest comedy of the year on BBC iPlayer with over five million requests so far, only coming behind Peter Kay’s Car Share.
