The 2017 series of Britain’s Got Talent is drawing to a close, with a new act about to take the title.

As judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden prepare to crown a new champion, we look back at some of the highlights:

David had the audience in stitches when he dropped his trousers to reveal a tattoo of Simon on his bottom.

It was revealed that one of the judges had some artwork inked onto their behind.

As Simon looked on in horror, Walliams sashayed towards him and undid his trousers to reveal an image of himself and the music supremo inked over his buttocks with a banner reading “Forever in love”.

Simon leapt from his seat, saying “I am not paid enough money to deal with that” as the audience laughed and cheered.

Contestant sets blindfolded balloon record

Balloon modeller Ryan Tracey delivered something a little extra when he smashed an official world record on stage.

The Irish hopeful managed to make five balloon animals while blindfolded in just over a minute, beating the previous record by barely two seconds.

He received four yeses from Simon and co for his troubles, after an official Guinness World Records adjudicator confirmed he had smashed his target.

Simon brought an unexpected end to the first round of the auditions by giving the coveted Golden Buzzer to teenage singer Sarah Ikumu, after she dazzled the judges and the audience with her impressive vocals.

Simon looked far from optimistic as Ikumu said she would be singing And I Am Telling You, which he described as one of the “biggest songs in the world”.

But the 16-year-old’s flawless performance won the stern judge over and brought the auditorium at London’s Palladium theatre to its feet.

“I have heard that song a lot,” said Simon, as he hit the button to automatically propel Ikumu to the semi-final.

“I thought it started great and then it’s like you became possessed halfway through, it was quite incredible.”

Viewers fall in love with young magician

Eight-year-old Issy Simpson quickly established herself as a favourite with viewers, who have labelled her “adorable” and “too cute”.

The young magician stunned audiences and judges with her impressive word tricks on a Harry Potter-inspired stage set, winning the public vote in the second round of live semi-finals to earn a place in the final.

And the public’s hearts melted even more as Simpson burst into tears when she was crowned episode winner.

Dog wees in David’s shoe

Judge David Walliams was mortified when one of the canine contestants relieved itself in his shoe.

The BGT stage was taken over by the judges and their own pets after a contestant and her dog invited them to join her onstage for some “dog yoga”.

After the human participants had taken off their footwear to get ready for some stretching, one of the dogs ran over and cocked its leg over Walliams’ shoe.

Looking distinctly unimpressed, he picked up his shoe and took a whiff, as host Dec laughed: “He’s peed on your shoes!”

The Missing People Choir

The judges were left in tears after a performance from a choir made up of missing people’s relatives.

Viewers were also emotional after the choir’s heart-wrenching performance of original song I Miss You, which was dedicated to their lost loved ones.

As they sang, images of some of their missing relatives were seen on the screen behind them.

The group, backed by Madeleine McCann’s mother Kate McCann, includes the sister of missing Manic Street Preachers guitarist Richey Edwards, the father of chef Claudia Lawrence, and Peter Boxell and Denise Horvath-Allan, whose children have both been missing for 28 years.
