TV star and fashion aficionado Gok Wan has landed his first number one album with a compilation of opera tracks.

Gok debuted a collection of his top picks from favourite opera singers, entitled Gok’s Divas, last week.

It has shot straight to the top of the Official Classical Compilations Chart, fending off competition from Classic FM, Now That’s What I Call Classical and Songs Of Praise.

Gok told OfficialCharts.com: “It’s difficult to express what a wonderful experience curating this album has been – and to be number one in the chart is a dream come true.

“I adore opera and I truly believe it is one of the most beautiful art forms on Earth. It’s such an honour to be able to share my favourite arias with you all… may the divas live forever in our hearts!”

The 42-year-old star’s record comprises 30 classic works from the worlds of opera and musical theatre, and includes the work of Puccini, Bellini, Mozart, Gershwin and Bernstein among others.

Opera singer Katherine Jenkins also features on the album, singing an original French language version of Les Miserables classic I Dreamed A Dream.

Gok is best known for fronting TV shows How To Look Good Naked and Gok’s Fashion Fix.

He made a name for himself as a fashion stylist and body confidence campaigner, and has also presented his own cookery programme, Gok Cooks Chinese, along with which he published a book of the same name.

Gok often appears on ITV’s This Morning as a guest presenter, and last year he hosted daytime interiors programme Gok’s Fill Your House For Free on Channel 4.
