A dramatic video of a boy falling between a train and a platform is being used to warn parents to keep a close eye on their children when travelling on public transport.

The clip, taken in February and released by Sydney Trains on Tuesday, shows the boy walking towards the train at Sydenham station in the Australian city before falling straight into the gap.

Other passengers can then be seen scrambling to help the boy, who emerged from the incident unscathed.

In a Facebook post, Sydney Trains wrote: “In the past year, there have been almost 200 incidents involving children on our network – with a lot of those occurring during the school holidays.

“With the winter break upon us, this vision is a timely reminder for parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children while travelling on our trains.”
