With the opposition on the attack and searching for an equaliser, a Dutch football fan took unsporting action to save their team.

Feyenoord were 2-1 ahead with 15 minutes to go in their top-of-the-table clash with PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie and, with an equaliser looking likely, a fan threw a second ball on to the pitch.

The incident happened after a shot from Steven Bergwijn, and PSV forward Denzel Dumfries, who was running on to the follow up, looked understandably furious, motioning to the crowd.

Play was pulled back due to the additional ball and the sting taken out of the attack, with Feyenoord holding on to take the first points from PSV this season.

PSV are two points clear of Ajax at the top of the table, having won their first 13 games in a row.

Feyenoord meanwhile move up to third, ten points behind the league leaders.
