Hurricane Irma has battered Caribbean islands and parts of Florida, and is reportedly one of the strongest storms on record, but that hasn’t stopped people poking fun at it.
The storm reached top speeds of 185mph, has caused deaths and has left millions without power. It is expected to continue to weaken but still holds a significant threat.
And the Floridian response? Well, for one supermarket and a number of people, it’s been hurricane-themed cakes.

Supermarket Publix has been selling Irma cakes that have been receiving a lot of attention – although they probably wouldn’t get too far on GBBO.
Some of them come with humorous slogans.
@Publix you take the cake with this one #irma #irmagerd #atlanta pic.twitter.com/xS4WVcUFBg

While others just want Irma to do one.

And it wasn’t just Publix indulging – people also made their own.

That’s one way to deal with a monster storm – and at least they weren’t shooting at it.
