Bizarre transfer announcements have been the hallmark of this summer’s transfer window, and AS Roma have been at the forefront of the weirdness.
The Italian club’s latest announcement takes things to a remarkably odd level however – take a look.

Right… In case – reasonably – you missed it, that announcement was for the signing of Czech forward Patrik Schick.
Schick joins from Sampdoria in a deal which could eventually rise to 42 million euro (£39 million) – a club record.
The 21-year-old underwent a medical in Rome before signing.

Considering this is a pretty big announcement for Roma to be making – potentially their record signing – it seems a little bit like they’re poking fun with Schick’s announcement.
Just a tad.

Some fans didn’t take the video very well.
Possibly the worst announcement ever

It almost shouldn’t be seen as a surprise Roma have made such a puzzling video this time out however.
Take their announcement of bullish defender Aleksandar Kolarov, for example. Announced in July, the Serbian’s signing-on video made no secret of its attempts to ridicule the transfer reveals of other clubs.

So, perhaps we should just take Roma’s announcement of Schick as another of them trying to troll other football clubs and, given it’s meme-heavy content, the internet itself.
Oh and in case you’re wondering who on Earth this Schick bloke is, he joined Sampdoria last year and scored 11 goals in his first campaign in Serie A before this move to Roma.
Schick has also played five times for the Czech Republic, scoring on his debut against Malta in May 2016.
