Students across the UK have been bracing themselves all summer for the nail-biting moment they would come face-to-face with their A-level results.
And while for some, the pressure of uncovering their envelope-sealed fate has been overwhelming, one young man began celebrating by swigging from his hip flask – on live TV.
Brave students from Winstanley College in Wigan opened their results on ITV’s Good Morning Britain from 7am, with some getting their desired grades, and others not performing as expected.
Brilliant morning with our lovely guests from @GMB with the amazing @KatyRickittITV. You really put our brave but nervous students at ease pic.twitter.com/8SeI8xaolt

But teenager James White was keen to kick off the festivities early, as he was spotted discreetly unscrewing a silver hip flask and strategically taking a swig of Amaretto – just as he entered the view of the GMB cameras.
White, who was pleased with his marks, told the Press Association that the GMB crew were unaware of his stunt ahead of time, but said that he planned it beforehand.
Thank you everyone. I needed it

And he had a reason to celebrate. The student added: “I’m planning on studying law at the University of Liverpool, but not before a night out with my mates to celebrate.”
Twitter users handed him a round of applause for the move.

The 18-year-old obtained an impressive three As in Law, Psychology and English language, and a B in his extended project.
But forget his A-level results – White tweeted that his brief appearance was his “proudest moment all day”.
