Liverpool’s latest pre-season match would have been absolutely perfect but for one incident involving the injury-troubled striker Daniel Sturridge.

With a place in the Audi Cup final at stake, the Reds managed to beat German champions Bayern Munich 3-0 – a great result, even if it is just a pre-season tournament.

And the icing on this particular cake was a goal from Sturridge, who produced an exquisite chip to seal the victory late on in the game.

Keep your eye on Sturridge after the goal, though…

Despite scoring a sensational goal it’s quite clear that Sturridge is grimacing through some sort of pain.

After the game it was confirmed that something, whether serious or not, had happened.

Football fans are all too familiar with Sturridge’s injury problems – since bursting onto the Anfield scene with Luis Suarez after his arrival from Chelsea, the forward’s career has been blighted with absences from the game.

However, while it didn’t look promising for the England player, he seemed in a good mood after the game, talking about the training he’s done this summer and the prospect of the season ahead.

“I think it’s just fatigue to be honest, I’ll be OK,” he said after the game. Liverpool fans will certainly hope that’s the case.
