Final day of Y Not Festival cancelled due to ‘adverse weather conditions'

Organisers said further information will be given over the next few days about refunds.

The Y-Not? Festival in Derbyshire has cancelled all the final day acts and events due to “adverse weather conditions”.

Organisers issued a statement on their website, saying: “The safety of our guests, performers and crew is our primary concern and the potential risk was too severe for Sunday to go ahead.”

The Vaccines, who were meant to be the headline act on Friday, cancelled their performance due to heavy rain.

Clean Bandit revealed they had to make do with a DJ set as heavy rain meant they were not able to set up their equipment.

Some festival-goers expressed their frustration on social media.

Although others were keen to point out that rain is often an inevitable feature at British festivals.

Photos taken by social media users showed areas covered in mud.

In addition, reports of tent thefts meant Derbyshire Police had to increase their presence at the Pikehall venue.

Organisers said they are “very sorry for the disappointment and disruption caused to everyone who was looking forward to the final day of the festival”, and added further information will be given out on their website over the next few days about refunds.
