Woodland Trust Scotland has welcomed the birth of two osprey chicks in the Loch Arkaig Forest.
The cute little critters were filmed hatching on a webcam in the heart of the Caledonian pinewood, which was recently purchased by Woodland Trust Scotland alongside local community group Arkaig Community Forest.
The proud parents of the newborns, Louis and Alia, seem to have been settling into their roles as parents comfortably well – bringing fish and nurturing their young in their most vulnerable early days.
The Woodland Trust now plans to regenerate the ancient Loch Arkaig forest, by planting more native trees with the aid of a multimillion donation package to boost conservation efforts in the area.
Ospreys, otherwise known as Fish Eagles or River Hawks, are known for their remarkable ability to swoop down on to rivers and catch fish using their powerful talons. They can even close their nostrils to stop water getting up their noses.
