Twitter is hilariously on the hunt to find Theresa May while the other party leaders take part in BBC Debate

She resisted the pressure to turn up – so the people of Twitter have sent out a search party.

While Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn had a last-minute change of heart and chose to turn up to tonight’s BBC Election Debate 2017, Prime Minister Theresa May resisted the pressure and accusations of cowardice from the other leaders by deciding to stay away.

So the people of Twitter all began making the same joke about trying to locate her.

The joke intensified when Lib Dem leader Tim Farron said in his opening statement: “Where do you think Theresa May is tonight? Take a look out your window, she might be out there sizing up your house to pay for social care.”

May defended her decision not to take part in the seven-way prime time debate, insisting she wanted to focus on meeting voters and answering questions, rather than “squabbling” with other politicians.
