The public felt rather sorry for Jeremy Corbyn being grilled by Andrew Neil on his birthday

Happy 68th Jeremy…

Jeremy Corbyn faced one of the most notorious interviewers on TV on his birthday – a fate few seem to envy.

Corbyn faced off with the BBC’s Andrew Neil on his 68th birthday, in what was supposed to be the last in a series of interviews between the broadcaster and political leaders ahead of the General Election.

Not quite, Harry.Days after the Manchester terror attack, the Labour leader had spoken out earlier in the day to condemn the war on terror, saying it is “simply not working”.Meanwhile on Twitter some watching perhaps hoped Neil would go easy on Corbyn for his special day…Happy Birthday to Jeremy…Acting much as he had with Prime Minister Theresa May on Monday, Neil didn’t let up on his tough questioning of the Labour leader. However, some thought Corbyn did well under the intense scrutiny.

Due to the terror attack in Manchester, three of the one-to-one interviews were postponed and will take place over the bank holiday weekend and next week.

SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon will face Neil on Sunday at 6pm on BBC One, while Ukip’s Paul Nuttall and the Liberal Democrats’ Tim Farron will be interviewed on Monday at 7.30pm and Tuesday at 7pm respectively.
