Lib Dem leader Tim Farron wasn’t afraid to get a little dirty in a gardening class, Labour’s Angela Rayner appeared to stumble in an LBC interview and first-time voters have been offered a free pint: here’s everything that happened on the General Election trail.
Quote of the day
“I can picture a time when every one of the six members of the household has taken the bins out. It is undoubtedly a joint effort. A very autonomous kind of commune we are in many ways” – Farron on the role of his family in response to Prime Minister Theresa May’s comments “there’s boy jobs and girl jobs”.
Who’s had a good day?
The Conservatives received the good news that no criminal charges would be brought in relation to their spending on the 2015 General Election campaign.
Despite the fact the spending returns submitted by some of the party’s candidates and officials may very well have been inaccurate, the Crown Prosecution Service said there was insufficient evidence to prove they were intentionally dishonest.
Who’s had a bad day?
Labour has given the biggest hint of plans to reform the education policy, but shadow education secretary Angela Rayner seemed to struggle when questioned about how many children the party’s proposed policy would help.
Rayner was asked four times by LBC presenter Nick Ferrari, and though failing to come up with the figures, responded “a significant number”.
This left Ferrari to pull up a number himself, which Rayner later claimed was inaccurate.
