This Liberal Democrat election event looked almost like something from the American campaign trail

Lib Dem leader Tim Farron campaigned in London today, and pictures from the event showed him in front of a sea of people clutching orange bright orange signs.

It almost looked akin to snaps we saw on the American campaign trail of leaders speaking in front of crowds of cheering supporters.

Farron was marking the milestone of the Lib Dems passing 100,000 members.

He said there was an “appetite for change” in the country as he campaigned in Labour Eurosceptic Kate Hoey’s seat in Vauxhall, and the supporters definitely seemed behind him.

However, closer inspection shows that instead of a vast stadium a la Trump or Clinton, Farron was in fact speaking at a church hall.

Sure, there are still a lot of people out to support the Lib Dem leader, but it’s lacking just a little bit of glamour – which is exactly what we’ve come to know and love from UK events.

Ah, British politics – never change.
