Today marks the 10th annual Record Store Day, and queues around the country show that vinyl is far from a thing of the past.

More than 200 independent record shops are taking part in the day, with a whole host of special vinyls being released to lure in fans.

And lure in fans they did, judging by the crowds of people who were queueing outside stores before they opened.

Considering how digital music is now, the popularity of Record Store Day is a pretty great sight to see.

Some people got up seriously early so not to miss out on some of the special editions on offer. Now that’s real dedication to the cause on a Saturday morning.

But this hasn’t dampened any spirits, because as you can imagine Record Store Day is a pretty civilised affair.

The early starts, long queues and nippy weather were all made worth it by the amazing vinyls dedicated followers managed to get their hands on.

We wonder if anyone’s yet managed to nab the hot pink special edition of Aqua’s 90s classic Barbie Girl…
