Happy Brexit Day one and all! We’re not entirely sure why it’s being dubbed “Brexit Day” seeing as it’s merely the triggering of Article 50 rather than Britain actually leaving the EU, but let’s not get bogged down in technicalities.
Instead, let’s take a look at what people are saying about Brexit on this pivotal day.
On one side of the spectrum, people are feeling pretty bummed out. Many feel lost, not knowing what will happen moving forward.
So are we still making Britain great again or is it taking back control? #BrexitDay pic.twitter.com/4QiETCmtYh

There are those who are just plain pessimistic.

And others who are as gloomy as the weather outside.
I can't help thinking that today is going to go down in history as a monumentally 'grey' day for our country. #Article50 #brexitday ?? pic.twitter.com/Cx1TWJibve

This came on shuffle, and it feels oddly appropriate for today..#brexitday pic.twitter.com/ycpn5WE6i9

However, on the other side of the spectrum there is palpable excitement and delight at the prospect of leaving the EU.
Happy #BrexitDay. Whoever thought that this glorious day would come?

Hey Liberals, just to clarify, we're leaving a dysfunctional bureaucracy, not the continent of Europe, you're welcome. ????#BrexitDay

Indeed, according to a YouGov poll there is little sign of “Bregret” (yes, that’s apparently now a word).

Results show that even though the vote split 52%-48% in favour of leaving at the referendum, support for going forward with Brexit is now higher. Overall, the public think Brexit should go ahead by 69% to 21%.
As some in Remain like to think I have no '#Brexit regret'.
I'd vote Leave all over again.
Retweet if you'd do the same! #BrexitDay

But not everyone is taking a political side. Instead, some are expending their energies to find the funny side in all of this.

Regardless of where you stand on the issue, there’s no doubt that there’s an excessive amount of chat about Brexit today. For many, it’s just getting to be a bit too much.
#BrexitDay pointless

Seriously, there’s only so much you can hear about Brexit Day. Excuse us while we go look at some cat videos on YouTube instead.
