It’s far too easy to get into a bit of a rut with your lunch selection and always go for your standard ham and cheese sandwich.
But if you want to mix things up a bit, there’s a newsagent in Wales that’s got some inspiration for you.
By that, we mean baguettes stuffed with things like chocolate orange and lettuce or liquorice allsorts, or even creme eggs. Who said you can’t have chocolate and sweets with every meal?
Channings Newsagent, found in City Road, Cardiff, is the shop selling the weird and wonderful combinations which social media is going a bit crazy for. And Kathleen Molloy, who works for the shop’s owner, Phil Daly, said people are definitely enjoying them.
“These new ones have hit Facebook and that’s all I seem to be talking about,” said Kathleen. “I’ve made some this morning and they could be gone quickly.”

Kathleen described the latest batch of baguettes she’s made up and the fillings include (brace yourselves): jam, egg and jelly beans; cheese, peanut butter and whole nut chocolate; Smarties, peanut butter and lettuce.
Not forgetting one more concoction that would definitely divide your office if you took it back to your desk – bacon, egg and Pontefract cakes.
For those not in the know, Pontefract cakes are actually circular pieces of traditional liquorice.

According to Kathleen, there’s quite a reaction when people see the baguettes – which, yes, we can well imagine.
But, hey, you’ve got to hand it to Channings for their creativity… and it would definitely be one way of jazzing up your lunchtime.
