No-one can quite believe it but Leicester City are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League

Seemingly against all the odds, they beat Sevilla.

They had nearly their best squad out to play, but Leicester City had it all to do going into their Champions League match facing Sevilla’s 2-1 lead.

Jamie Vardy previously saved the team from too bitter a loss with a second half goal. The question was, could he do it again at Leicester’s first home knockout game? Many people had their hopes up from the beginning.

Last time they faced Sevilla, Claudio Ranieri was at the helm, but now Craig Shakespeare is leading the team until the end of the season. Everyone was keen to find out how the team would perform under this new leadership.Luckily, they were on fine form from the beginning. It wasn’t even Vardy who helped the team level with Sevilla, with Wes Morgan scoring within half-an-hour of kick-off. Best yet, the goal made Morgan the first Jamaican to score in the Champions League.

This levelled the teams to 2-2 on aggregate, a huge boost for Leicester who came in as underdogs.

People were chuffed with Leicester’s performance.

But as always, there were some naysayers who still expected it to all go wrong.

But this scepticism was entirely unwarranted because as it turns out, Leicester could actually do it. Marc Albrighton scored the team’s second goal, giving Leicester a lead on aggregate.

Nasri getting sent off and an absolutely unbelievable penalty save from Kasper Schmeichel were the final nails in the coffin for Sevilla. All in all, it was an electrifying night for Leicester.

So there you have it – few saw it coming, but Leicester have somehow managed to make their way into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
