They shared a career together, so it’s no surprise that Frank Lampard and John Terry were perfectly at home staring into one another’s eyes.

The pair, who won the Champions League, Europa League and three Premier League titles together, appeared on ITV’s Play to the Whistle panel show and took to the floor to see who would triumph in a best of three.

The loser is the first person to smile and the show’s producers had a trick up their sleeve to try and make that happen. Take a seat – things are about to get intense.

#playtothewhistle tonight at 9pm on ITV. @johnterry.26 with the death stare ????

This is weak from Lampard – a man with 106 England caps to his name is better than that. Round one was meat and drink for Terry.Round two, however, was almost too close to call. We never thought we’d say this, but keep an eye on Terry’s mouth.

Drama the likes of which is usually reserved for a Champions League final – that’s character from Lampard.

Unfortunately, Frank failed to upload the third clip, but we can tell you that, perhaps unsurprisingly, Terry’s ability shone through in the end to claim a 2-1 win.

We await the return leg with interest.
