The Houses of Parliament became the backdrop for a large projection against Donald Trump’s state visit on Sunday.

A message reading “Say No to Trump” loomed large over the Thames for an hour as activists from Global Justice Now raised awareness of their opposition to the US president’s visit.

Trump’s state visit is being arranged despite an e-petition against it reaching over 1.8m signatures. The Government responded to the petition last week, saying: “We look forward to welcoming President Trump once dates and arrangements are finalised…

“This invitation reflects the importance of the relationship between the United States of America and the United Kingdom.”

The Petitions Committee has scheduled a debate in Parliament on the issue today at 4.30pm, giving MPs a chance to have their say.
