Theresa May spent the afternoon at a Merseyside primary school to meet the pupils and check out their award-winning creations.
The Prime Minister hung out with some of the Year Six students at Captain Shaw’s CE Primary School, where they showed her their Lego robot made as part of the First Lego League competition – and she sure looked like she was having a good time.
That there is a look of pure admiration and pride from May, as she witnessed the workings of the bright 10 and 11-year-olds the country has to offer.
The shots of the Prime Minister didn’t go unnoticed, and many admitted they’d never found May so relatable.

The internet got quick to work, as expected, producing some pretty great memes from the pretty unfortunate photos.
Respect to whoever put chewing gum on Theresa May's chair. I suspect it was the one on the left of this pic. All sweetness and light there. pic.twitter.com/eCaxWdpdGN

May visited the school in Bootle with the Conservative Party candidate for the Copeland by-election, Trudy Harrison, ahead of next week’s crucial vote. And it seems she has the same knack for engaging with children as her predecessor – here’s former prime minister David Cameron at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Primary School in Westhoughton while on the general election campaign trail in 2015.
