We’re not here to judge how anyone spends their Saturday mornings. But, we’re just not sure we’d want ours to involve plunging into icy waves in Scotland for a 1,000m swim.
You’re not even allowed to wear a wetsuit for the Ice Swimming Championships, held at The Cruin on the Loch Lomond Castle Estates for the first time. And the water temperature must be below 5C in the event. Now, that’s gotta be tough.
There were dozens of men and women taking part, and they looked freezing before they even got in the water. Not surprising really, when you think of how cold it is across most of the UK this weekend.

While we’re really not envious of the dip, just look how beautiful their surroundings of Loch Lomond are.
Brrrrrr! Broodily beautiful Loch Lomond. pic.twitter.com/0buSEjRMeE

Seriously.
Oh, one more…
Look, we just really want to visit Scotland even more than before now, ok?
And we can’t help but feel like this Loch Lomond spot would be the perfect remedy after that ice swim.
Still not enough to make us want to jump in the waves ourselves mind…we’ll just take the hot tub, thanks.
