Miriam Gonzalez Durantez is an established lawyer, blogger, author, partner of a global legal practice, and chair of an organisation aimed at inspiring young girls all over the world.

She also happens to be married to Nick Clegg.

Unsurprisingly, given her extensive successes, she was invited to speak at an upcoming Q&A event to mark International Women’s Day on March 8.

What was much more surprising to her was that she was addressed by her marriage status and by her married name.

She wrote alongside the photo: “The irony of being invited to speak at an International Women’s Day event to celebrate women’s success addressed to me as ‘Mrs Clegg’ …”

It’s not the first time Durantez has called out being defined in relation to her husband, as she’s previously complained about being referred to as “Nick Clegg’s missus” in TV reporting.

Sigh.
