Socialist journalist Owen Jones, who organised Stand Up To Trump protests across Britain, took the hot seat on the Good Morning Britain couch today.
He was joined by Philip Davies MP to argue about a string of demonstrations across the country in opposition to Trump’s policies and “the Tory attempt to make the UK his poodle”.
Wow. Just wow. Unbelievable turnout at London's #StandUpToTrump demo – against racism and against weak, weak, weak, Theresa May's complicity pic.twitter.com/CUKTYdMFe1

Today we launch the Stand Up To Trump coalition. It's the start of a movement against Trump and the Tory attempt to make the UK his poodle

Morgan wanted to know where the mass protests against the Saudis were while Davies argued Israeli citizens couldn’t travel to the countries on Trump’s ban list. But Jones stood his ground.
.@piersmorgan: "Where were the protests outside the Saudi Embassy?" @OwenJones84: "I led them." #GMB

The tense exchange had people, as ever, split down the middle.
JHC watching #goodmorningbritain I agree with the journalist I need an aspirin after hearing #piersmorgan! Interview?what interview

@OwenJones84 absolutely on point on the Good Morning Britain interview! First person I've seen take on Morgan and kept things light.

Unsurprisingly @PhilipDaviesMP hardly got a word in! #GoodMorningBritain

But some grew annoyed at what they saw as Morgan using the time to simply air his own views rather than interview his guests.
@GMB Morgan needs to shut up and let others speak. It's NOT called Good Morning Piers. It's called Good Morning BRITAIN get a grip ????

OMG once again #goodmorningbritain becomes the @piersmorgan show. Not an interview a lecture … pathetic @GMB
— Andrew Lavoipierre (@BizInessCoach) January 31, 2017
I don't think it counts as an interview if you're too busy shouting nonsense to listen to your guests #goodmorningbritain

After the episode, Morgan hinted there may be more common ground between them than meets the eye.
Mr Jones & I probably agree on more things than either of us would care to admit. https://t.co/bjwRlBR6BN
— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) January 31, 2017
We can’t exactly imagine what those points of agreement would be, given Morgan is one of Trump’s biggest UK cheerleaders…
