In yet another blow to Labour, Tristram Hunt, the party’s MP for Stoke-on-Trent Central, has announced he is stepping down.
That’s potentially pretty awkward because the by-election it will trigger could well be won by Ukip, for a few reasons – Ukip leader Paul Nuttall could stand and it’s a seat which overwhelmingly voted for Brexit.

As for Hunt, he’s quit Parliament to take up the role of director of the V&A Museum – so quite the career change.Or is it? Some people have claimed to notice a striking and unflattering similarity.
