THE Monopoly board is getting a makeover which could see the classic playing pieces replaced with new figurines.

Toymakers Hasbro has invited fans to vote on their favourite tokens they’d like to see in the next Monopoly edition, and there’s more than 50 new ones to choose from.

Among the contemporary playing pieces on offer are a hashtag, jetski, tortoise, watch, bow tie, camera and T-Rex.

Monopoly players can vote for their top eight figurines, choosing to save the classics or completely reinvent the Monopoly board with new player pieces.

Votes are only being taken until January 31, with the results being revealed in March and the winning eight pieces being made a permanent edition to the board game.

This is not the first time the Monopoly board has got a makeover, in 2013 the classic iron figurine was replaced by Hazel the cat after a nationwide public vote.
