Nadine Coyle has launched her bid to be crowned Queen of the Jungle in spectacular style.

The former Girls Aloud star is among the 10 celebrities who have headed to Australia to take part in ITV reality show I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!

The Derry singer was the second celebrity to appear on last night's programme, after Match Of The Day presenter and former Arsenal favourite Ian Wright.

A host of stars including Kate Garraway, Roman Kemp, James Haskell, Andrew Maxwell, Jacqueline Jossa, Adele Roberts and Myles Stephenson, are taking part in this year's series, the 19th in the ITV show's history.

Ms Coyle and four other stars had to swim from their yacht to the beach to officially start the show.

She and fellow star Caitlyn Jenner were later told they had to sky-dive into the jungle as part of their first challenge.

A tearful Ms Coyle was comforted by Ms Jenner before the challenge.

The singer said she signed up for I’m a Celebrity to try something new.

She said since she has become a mum to daughter Anaiya she has become fearful of simple things in life.

“I really hope that by doing this, it pushes me so far out the comfort zone and that I learn to be comfortable, feel relaxed and do the things that I didn’t used to be afraid of," she said.

She said she is not looking forward to being away from her daughter.

“I’ve been away for ten days for work before but not longer,” she says. “I’m dreading being away from everybody and not being able to phone and say ‘how are you doing?’ ‘How’s my daughter?’ "

She added: “I’ve never boiled water on a fire, chopped firewood, slept outside – I do hope I learn stuff about me and it’s the next phase.”
