THE cancer-stricken wife of shamed TV football presenter Richard Keys is filing for divorce after he allegedly had an affair with a woman less than half his age.
Julia Keys is divorcing her husband of 34 years after it emerged he apparently cheated on her with a 27-year-old lawyer the couple met in Qatar, where the former Sky Sports pundit now works.
Mrs Keys, who has thyroid cancer, told the Sunday Mirror it was "disgusting" what her husband and the woman had done to her and their family.
Speaking from her home in Berkshire, she said: "I have instigated divorce proceedings. He has been begging me to give him another chance and said he had no intention of staying with her.
"He has bombarded me with desperate appeals to get back together including turning up on my doorstep here. But enough is enough. I have to look after myself now. It has had a negative impact on my health, but that has to take priority now and I've got to move on."
Keys has not commented on the allegations other than on his Twitter account, where he said on Saturday: "I expected a mixed bag of reaction - thanks for the support. There are many inaccuracies in the reports today - but I expected that also."
Keys and fellow football pundit Andy Gray left Sky Sports in disgrace in 2011 after they were caught making sexist off-air comments about assistant referee Sian Massey.
More footage emerged later in which Keys appeared to speak in lewd terms about a former girlfriend of pundit Jamie Redknapp.
