IRISH fans of hit TV show Homeland were agog with excitement when the season five premiere kicked off on RTÉ 2 just 48 hours after the US premiere.
Devotees of troubled CIA officer Carrie Matheson, played by Emmy winner Claire Danes, had been on tenterhooks since the conclusion of series four.
Their heroine has been plunged into mourning for her father and she had failed to capture terrorist Haissam Haqqani.
The question of her will they/won’t they relationship with Peter Quinn remained unanswered and what was Mandy Patinkin’s character Saul up to?

Those who have been following, or attempting to follow, the show’s plots from the start, will have been savvy to the fact that they would remain on tenterhooks after last night’s episode, entitled Separation Anxiety.
Fans took to Twitter with gusto to share their excitement, with many praising RTÉ 2 for having nabbed the series so quickly after its US airing.
