MAX Beesley is to play an ex-Royal Marine working under Claire Danes’ character in the new series of Homeland.

The Mad Dogs star appeared in the new trailer for the fifth season of the Showtime drama, and now The Wrap has revealed a little more about his role.

Max will play Mike Brown, an ex-Royal Marine turned private military contractor. He is described as smart, but not entirely comfortable taking orders from Carrie Mathison (Danes).

Homeland Season five will pick up two years after CIA officer Carrie’s ill-fated time as Islamabad station chief.

Carrie is living alone with her daughter in Berlin, working as head of security for a German philanthropist.

Homeland returns to Showtime in the US on October 4. It is not yet known when Channel 4 will air the 12-episode series in the UK.
