First Trust Bank together with award-winning architect Patrick Bradley - winner of Kevin McCloud’s ‘Grandest Design’ 20 Year Anniversary Award – are set to appear in cinemas across Northern Ireland as they embark on a special self-build mortgage roadshow to share advice and support to the growing number of people keen to build their own homes.

Kicking off on November 7 and running until November 19, the event will take over cinema locations in Dungannon, Lisburn, Craigavon, Newry and Derry throughout November, First Trust Bank is calling on those at the start of their self-build journey to join a ‘Movies and Mortgages’ event where they will receive self-build mortgage advice and insight about the self-build process and then enjoy a free movie and popcorn.

Hosted by local radio personality Pete Snodden, audience members will hear Patrick Bradley’s top tips from his own self-build journey in an exclusive question and answer session before settling down to watch new movie premiere release, Doctor Sleep

Launching its exclusive ‘Self-Build Specialist’ service, First Trust Bank is the only mortgage provider in Northern Ireland that provides customers with a free independent advisor from a top construction consultancy to help keep self-build projects on time and on-budget.

Speaking about the Movies and Mortgages roadshow, Roisin Keenan, head of homes at First Trust Bank said;

“Our research shows that 50 per cent of self-builders have little to no experience in construction and that 75 per cent want support from an expert in the sector to help, particularly around build costs and budget. “That’s why, together with our unique self-build specialist offering, we wanted to engage with people directly at the start of their self-build journey and give them the opportunity to ask the experts.”

“Our ‘Movies and Mortgages’ roadshow does just that and we’re delighted to be joined by esteemed local architect Patrick Bradley who, fresh from his success on the Grand Design revisited programme, is on hand to offer his thoughts on how to overcome challenges and embrace the opportunities that come from building your own home.”

Patrick Bradley meanwhile added: “Having been through the self-build journey personally and from my work as an architect, I understand the complexities of the process. Building your own house is a hugely rewarding experience and it can be made all the easier if you know what to expect. Understanding the financials from the outset is key to this so I’m delighted to support First Trust Bank on its Movies and Mortgages roadshow across Northern Ireland. I can’t wait to hear what ambitions our local self-builders have and sharing my own insights on the pitfalls to avoid throughout.”
