A plug-in hybrid version of Seat's large Tarraco SUV will arrive in Northern Ireland in the second half of 2021.

A 13kWh battery pack gives the car a range of 30 miles on electric power alone, claims Seat.

The company says that the Tarraco's total range is "up to 454 miles".

The Tarraco's plug-in hybrid system is familiar from other Volkswagen Group products.

It pairs a 148bhp 1.4 litre petrol engine with a 113bhp electric motor and uses a six-speed double-clutch automatic gearbox. The system's total power output is 242bhp, with up to 295lb ft of torque.

The battery can be plugged in to an AC charging point and replenished in as little as three and a half hours using a 3.6kW wallbox charger, says Seat, or less than five hours using a 2.3kW charger.

The Tarraco 'e-HYBRID' will be available in the UK in five-seat guise only in FR and Xcellence trims.
