VAUXHALL has updated its Crossland compact SUV; it has lost the 'X' suffix from its name but gained a cosmetic refresh.

Looking a little less apologetic than before, the Crossland has been given new LED headlights and a redesigned Vauxhall badge at the front, while at the rear are tinted lights and a gloss-black tailgate surface.

It offers a 410-litre boot, which can be increased to 520 litres by sliding the rear seats forwards.Drop them completely and boot space increases to 1,255 litres.

A range of assistance systems have also been fitted, including a driver drowsiness alert and forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking.

Drivers can choose from a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol - available in 82bhp, 109bhp and 128bhp states of tune - along with a 1.5-litre diesel which is offered in 109bhp and 118bhp power outputs.

More powerful units are available with a six-speed automatic gearbox, but the vast majority of engines are linked to a manual gearbox as standard.

Prices start at £19,060 for an SE trimmed 1.2-litre. It comes as standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus lane departure warning and speed sign recognition.

SE Nav Premium, which starts at £20,260, adds front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and LED fog lights. Inside the driver gets a new ergonomic seat and an upgraded infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen and sat-nav.

The sporty-themed SRi Nav model features 17-inch alloy wheels, contrasting roof colours, alloy-effect skid plates and dark tinted rear windows. This trim level starts at £21,410.

Elite models start from £21,560 and have leather seat trim, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, as well as front and rear parking sensors with a rear-view camera.

Elite Nav models add upgraded infotainment as well as wireless mobile phone charging and a 180-degree panoramic rear-view camera, with prices starting from £22,110.

The top-of-the-range Ultimate Nav model comes with Alcantara seat trim, keyless entry and start, as well as silver roof rails. It is priced from £25,495.
