Audi A4: Black is the new black
THE 'Black Edition' trim level of the last Audi A4 was very popular - particularly here in Northern Ireland, with more than half of buyers opting for it - so it is no surprise that the company has now got round to offering similar specification on the latest version of its BMW 3 Series challenger.
Black Edition enhancements on the A4 saloon and Avant estate include privacy glass, a black exterior styling pack, flat-bottomed steering wheel, piano black inlays in the interior and 19-inch alloy wheels.
You can have your Black Edition with a wide range of petrol and diesel engines. Petrols comprise a 1.4-litre with 148bhp and a 2.0-litre with either 187bhp or 249bhp; diesels flavours are 2.0-litre with 187bhp and 3.0-litre with 215bhp or 268bhp.
The most powerful petrol and the 3.0-litre diesels come with quattro four-wheel-drive as standard - it is an option on the 2.0-litre diesel - and gearboxes include six-speed manuals and seven-speed dual clutch automatics. The top-of-the-range 3.0-litre diesel has an eight-speed automatic as standard.
Audi is also upgrading other models in the A4 range. An onboard emergency alert system is now standard, and Sport models gain an upgraded multi-function steering wheel and driver's dashboard display, front seat heating and leather upholstery. The S line cars get heated leather and alcantara seats.
Meanwhile, every Audi model, from the A1 upwards, gains cruise control and rear parking sensors.
A4 Black Edition models are available to order now, with prices from £32,350 to £44,350.
