NI Water have launched an initiative aims at raising awareness of the importance of drinking water as part of a healthy lifestyle.

‘Water for Health’ encourages the public to keep hydrated by drinking the recommended amount of water every day, particularly during warm weather.

NI Water’s Environmental Education Officer, Pat McCauley, said it was important to ensure we are well hydrated during the summer months.

“All of us ‘run’ on water every day, so it is important we don’t neglect our wellbeing by allowing ourselves to become dehydrated,” he said

“With exam season still in full flow, it’s also important for students to keep themselves topped up with water – more than just a good exam technique is needed for those grades!”

NI Water also aim to educate the public about the value of high quality tap water and the associated health benefits from drinking tap water.

Water helps to reduce the risk of tiredness, increases concentration and vitality, and improves memory. It also helps to maintain healthy skin, bones, hair and nails.

Water forms a major part of our blood (approximately 82 per cent), lubricates joints, eyes, aids digestion and helps you look better by keeping skin smooth.
