FOOD-LOVERS can look forward to a festival with a difference in Co Antrim.

The Bushmills Salmon & Whiskey Festival returns on June 9 and 10 – serving up a feast of good food, entertainment and cookery demonstrations headlined by celebrity chef Paula McIntyre.

On Saturday, she will perform in the cookery theatre, showcasing several recipes in front of a live audience.

On Sunday, chefs including recently crowned Ulster Chowder Cook Off champion Gary Stewart from Tartine at The Distillers Arms will show off their skills.

There will also be appearances by Trudy Brolly (Ocho Tapas, Portrush) and Derek Steele (Finn Patrick’s, Ballycastle) giving a glimpse of the best of cookery talent across the north coast and Glens.

A banquet organised by Bushmills Business Association on Friday evening has already sold out. But there will be plenty of time to sample some locally produced food and drink at a speciality market held on Main Street in Bushmills over the weekend.

Day-trippers can browse stalls including arts and crafts stands while listening to free live music.

Tours of Bushmills Distillery, including a whiskey tasting session, can be booked. Or visitors can take a trip to the River Bush Salmon Station on Church Street where they can enjoy casting and fly fishing demonstrations.

A family fun day will also be held at Dundarave Park, funded by the National Trust, on Saturday.
