IF you take a look in your wardrobe, what do you see? Probably a lot of T-shirts, skirts, shorts and dresses if you’re anything like us. It seems so much more fun and interesting shopping for summer clothes, which often means that come winter you feel like you’ve got nothing to wear.

It’s cold, it’s dark, but that doesn’t mean you have to start dressing like the boring sister of your summer self. Nor does it mean that you have to trawl through the shops spending a whole lot of money on newer, more season-appropriate clothes.

Instead, here are some ways that you can refashion your summer clothes into more wintry looks.

Layers

It’s all about layering up your clothes – tights, leggings and thermals can all be worn with your summer outfits.

Layer up anything in your wardrobe and you’ll be warm and rocking an eclectic look – we’re particular fans of the double cardigan, it’s cooler than you might think.

Turtlenecks

Turtlenecks are also great for layers – any summer dress or strappy top you have can be re-worn with a turtleneck underneath. Warm and cute at the same time.

Scarves

Summer dresses, T-shirts, shorts – all of this is instantly made wintry with the addition of a chunky scarf. Sorted.

Shorts

Don’t be fooled into thinking shorts are only for summer – a thick pair of tights, boots and your trusty winter coat means you can wear them all year round.

Skirts

Same drill for skirts – it’s all about the accessories in winter. A good pair of boots and a hat will transform anything summery into autumn and winter fare.

Sunglasses

At the moment it might be particularly chilly in the UK, but it’s also very bright outside. Don’t make the mistake of only taking your sunglasses on holiday, because it’s totally appropriate to wear them now.
