Spice Girl confession no more than desperate stunt for attention

There’s nothing quite as sad as a desperate celebrity.

It’s all grand when they're riding high in the limelight and everyone loves them, but when the phone stops ringing and the bookings stop coming in, sadly, some famous faces are more than prepared to hitch a ride on the desperado express.

We’ve all seen it happen, sometimes to our most favourite celebs, and other times to people like Mel B aka Scary Spice.

I can only assume desperate for publicity ahead of the upcoming Spice Girls Reunion Tour this summer, the 43-year-old this week made a ‘shocking’ and `spare of the moment' revelation about band made, Geri Horner aka Ginger Spice.

It just so happened that during an interview for Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, Mel B was `forced' to confess that she had been intimate with Geri in the band’s hey-day.

While the show will air later in the year, Piers aired a clip of the bombshell confession on Good Morning Britain this week.

It was reported that following the revelation, Mel B rushed to make a frantic phone call to Geri to explain the confession.

We are told Geri was upset and now there are fears that what was said could cause a rift between the pair and threaten the tour.

Well, what a surprise.

Are we meant to seriously believe Mel B’s so-called confession just happened - a few months before the tour?

Sorry girls, I’m just not buying it.

Once again, I believe what we have is a has-been performer prepared to do anything to get publicity.

Call me skeptical but it seems to me that it is not beyond the realms of possibility that this was all staged.

While other band members have moved on from their Spice Girl days, building fashion brands, quietly raising families and launching other careers, Mel B has constantly courted controversy in the spotlight.

Of course, as well as the tour, all this nonsense comes as Mel B is trying to sell copies of her tell-all memoir ‘Brutally Honest’.

If Geri was an innocent party, shame on Mel B for doing that to a friend.

I think it speaks volumes about this woman, who didn’t even spare a thought for Geri’s young family.

I only hope now that fans see through this sad stunt which is nothing more than a ridiculous attempt to make money on the back of the band’s glory days.

The other ladies would do well to ask this wannabe to do one.

Her attempt to spice up her life, could cost their future dearly.

You know, I’m really starting to warm to singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran.

I just really like this down-to-earth attitude and honesty.

The four-time Grammy award winner revealed this week that used to cry every day as a schoolboy because bullies taunted him for his ginger hair, glasses and a stutter.

However, the singer went on to say that while the comments hurt him, it was these differences that led to his musical success because it drew attention to him and made him "memorable".

He said: "The thing I always say to kids now is it's great to be weird".

Great advice Ed.

Bet those bullies are cringing now.
