AS part of its preparations for the World Meeting of Families in August, St Patrick's Cathedral in Armagh was packed with people of all ages as it hosted a special family celebration.

Colleen Gribben, a teacher in St Catherine's College in the city and a Michaela Camp coordinator, spoke at last Thursday evening's event about the influence of the family of home, school and parish on her life.

Armagh Parish Pastoral Council put much work into the gathering, at which people were invited to present a small picture of their family.

These will be pieced together to make a 'Parish Family Collage' which will hang in the Cathedral.

Another speaker was kickboxer Jesse-Jane McParland, a Britain's Got Talent finalist in 2015. She shared the story of her own journey and spoke about the influence of home and family on her life. She made the draw for two families to receive tickets to attend the WMOF in Dublin.

Music was led by Malachi Cush and Plunkett McGartland.
