THE world of Seamus Heaney's poetry is full of unseen, intangible boundaries and thresholds, none more so than the border between Derry and Armagh.

Heaney once noted that if he had been born just a short walk away, his home would have fallen under the diocese of Armagh, and his life would have been noticeably different.

Like Heaney, Eamon Martin has undertaken the journey from Derry to Armagh, attending Heaney's old college St Columb's, first as a pupil and later as a teacher and president – before becoming Archbishop of Armagh.

In a special event on Saturday Dec 3, Archbishop Martin will present a talk exploring the importance of the parish and the diocese in Irish life.

The event will take place at Seamus Heaney HomePlace; a new home for inspiration, echoing the life, literature and legacy of Seamus Heaney.
