Two inter-faith day retreats are taking place this month in the nurturing peace of Lough Derg in Co Donegal.

A Day of Friendship and Prayer is the first on Wednesday September 14. This is an opportunity for friends, neighbours and interfaith church groups to gather and celebrate their shared Christian faith in prayer and friendship.

The guest speaker is Most Rev Patricia Storey, the Church of Ireland Bishop of Meath & Kildare. Admission is £22. Boats are available from 10am return from 2.30pm and light lunch is included.

On Wednesday September 22, there will be a Living with Suicide day retreat. This is for those who have been affected in any way by suicide, either through personal loss or with suicidal ideation, or for those ministering to the suicide bereaved or working in support services.

The guest speaker is Conor McCafferty, co-founder of Zest: Healing the Hurt Ltd in Northern Ireland.

His talk - Grief after Suicide: The Journey of the Bereaved Family - will touch on how grief is very individual and involves active self-care through the acquisition of new skills of caring for yourself after emotional injury.

It will extend into many other aspects of living with suicide and how to cope with birthdays, anniversaries and much more.

Admission is £35. Boats to the island are available from 9.15am return from 4.00pm. Morning refreshments and light lunch are included.
