:: UPSTANDING ULSTER MEN: Three Ulster Rugby players - Ruan Pienaar, Wiehahn Herbst and Paul Marshall - will be talking about their faith at a service in St Anne's Cathedral, Belfast, on Monday January 25 at 8pm.

Pienaar, a South Africa World Cup winner who joined Ulster in 2010, says: "I have always believed, with my Christianity, that there's so much more to life than rugby.

"Being here gives me an enormous sense of purpose. I am not just here for rugby. I'm here to touch lives."

The three players will be interviewed by BBC journalist Mark Simpson and Shane Logan, chief executive of Ulster Rugby, will also talk about his faith.

The event is sponsored by Christian Vision for Men and Divine Healing Ministries. All welcome.

:: BROCAGH MASS: The annual Mass to pray for the canonisation of the Venerable Mother Angeline O. Carm will be celebrated at 8pm tomorrow in St Brigid's, Brocagh.

Mother Angeline was born in the Tyrone parish on January 21 1893 and went on to found the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm in New York in 1929.

Parish priest Fr Benny Fee said Mother Angeline had "lived an extraordinary life of holiness and was declared Venerable by Pope Benedict XVI in June 2012".

"In the local area she has become well known as a great intercessor with God for the needs of people."

:: MERCY PRAYER: To celebrate the Jubilee Year of Mercy being observed by the Catholic Church, Armagh Parish's Holy Spirit Prayer Group is hosting a series of Life in the Spirit seminars, in Mount Saint Catherine's Primary School in the city.

The seminars, which are open to all, will be held at 8pm every Tuesday, starting next week on January 26 and continuing until March 15.

Speakers include: Marie Beirne (January 26); Deacon John Taaffe (February 2); Teresa Lappin (February 9); Archbishop Eamon Martin (February 16); Pat Butterly (February 23); Fr Gerry Campbell (March 1); Fr Joe McDonald (March 8); and Vivienne Costello (March 15).

:: LENT RESOURCE: Christian Aid has launched Count Your Blessings, a calendar with daily thought-provoking reflections for Lent 2016.

It features stories from Bangladesh, one of the most densely populated nations in the world where 80 per cent of the population live on less than $2 a day, mostly in rural areas.

Efforts to fight poverty in Bangladesh are increasingly frustrated by the disastrous effects of climate change, such as rising temperatures and increasingly erratic rainfall.

Christian Aid partners in Bangladesh with GUK, which works to help people transform their lives by increasing their resilience to the unpredictable weather and floods, and helping them to become self-sufficient and prosper in the toughest of environments.
