Sermon notes

NUNCIO: Papal Nuncio Archbishop Charles Brown will visit the parish of Aghaloo on Sunday to celebrate the Year of Consecrated Life with Mass in St Mary's Church, Aughnacloy.

The parish has strong links with New York, Archbishop Brown's home city: John Hughes, who resided and worked in the parish before he emigrated to America, went on to become New York's first Catholic archbishop.

The parish also has links with the Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney, Terence Brady.

Parish administrator Fr Greg Carvill said Archbishop Brown's visit would be "momentous".

MERCY: To celebrate the Year of Mercy announced by Pope Francis and which begins in December, a day of reflection called 'Pope Francis: Who is this Man of Mercy' will be held in Tobar Mhuire Retreat Centre on November 7. It will be led by Brian McKee. Contact the centre on 028 4483 0242 for more information.

LYNDA'S PATH: Television presenter and journalist Lynda Bryans will be the speaker at the weekly healing service in St Anne's Cathedral, Belfast on Monday November 16 at 8pm.

Her theme will be 'My Path of Faith' and Brother David Jardine, one of the organisers of the service, said that he expected Ms Bryans to talk about mental health - an area in which she campaigns and about which she speaks candidly from her own experiences - as well as more broadly about "her whole growth in faith, and how that has impacted every part of her life".

"Lynda is a very popular speaker when she comes to St Anne's Cathedral, as well as having a warm and friendly personality," he said.

"I have no doubt that his will be a great service."
